OK, this is a bit different to my usual blog posts and I suppose it is a bit of fun and a bit of information all in one, most of all its not a serious blog post.
The aim being to give you all a better idea of who I am as an individual, rather than just reading snapshots about my life, and the various things I have experienced and though/felt across the years. So here goes 25 easy to answer questions, some with more detail than others. xxx 1. Name: Sophie although I have also been Katie, Leah, Emma and Melissa. A girl can change her mind. Right ?? Also known as Russ when I am not Sophie. 2. Are you named after anyone? Not that I am aware of, no, obviously the name my parents gave me is Russ, and that’s the only name some people know me by, others only know me as Sophie. Some who I count as my close friends and some family as well, know both of me, All I ever ask of anyone, is to address me as I am presenting, I hope that’s not so much to ask.. 3. Do you have any pets? Yes, one very friendly and chatty black cat named Bella. She’s old and losing the plot a bit I think, but we had her as a rescue cat from the RSPCA, she needed a good home, so we couldn’t leave her behind. I also had a beautiful little Chihuahua named Max, but sadly he had to move house and now lives with a friend of my Sister-in-Law. It wasn’t that he wasn’t wanted and he is very sadly missed, but he was not accepting of my son after he was born and mouthed him a couple of times, no damage done, but as we all know, you can’t take chances with kids and dogs, and I couldn’t rehome my beautiful little boy. I know that Max is happy in his new home as he lives with 2 other Chihuahuas he gets along with great. 4. What was the name of your first teddy as a child? Skippy, he was a Pink and Cream Kangaroo, lol, I got him for Christmas when I was 2 months old and still have him now. 42 years later, although he does live in the loft now with lots of other remnants of my childhood. I am pretty sure that I didn’t name him, but he is still fully intact. I also have a 42 year old Steiff Bunny which I will probably pass onto my little boy when he is a bit older. 5. Do you have any weird body skills? I can wiggle my ears up and down !! Is that a body skill !! not so much a skill but a real odd thing that some find a bit disturbing is that the bottom half of my left arm twisted about a quarter turn out of alignment from the top half, I fell from a tree as a 7 year old and spent 6 weeks in traction with my elbow pinned back together, then went home and broke it again before it had fused properly, so spent a further period of about 6 weeks more having it mended again, but it could never be put back properly and fused crooked lol. It’s quite freaky to look at. 6. Do you enjoy any weird food combinations? Ha-ha now surely everyone likes some odd things, Celery and Peanut butter, Dairylea and Marmite sandwiches, in fact Dairylea and marmite goes well on hot crumpets as well. Baked spuds with coleslaw and baked beans on top. I don’t think any of these are odd and I’m pretty sure that lots of people eat stranger things. I mean come on, Snails and Frogs legs, these are normal if you a French. 7. Favourite band or artist? This is a really really tough one, I don’t think I can say one in in particular, maybe Kylie Minogue, I love the way both she and her music styles have adapted to changes in taste over the years. I just love music, and if I am honest I like the song over the artist/band. The truth is, I am an 80’s girl at heart and if something is actually going to get me up on a dance floor for a bit of a boogie, it will be a classic 80’s hit that will do the job !!! anything by Duran Duran, Tiffany, Culture Club, Cyndi Lauper ………. This list is probably almost endless 8. Do you have any bad habits? Who doesn’t? I’m a picker, a compulsive picker, if its skin and it’s a little bit crunchy on a finger or thumb in fact, any bit of dry skin will do including hard skin on my heels, I will scratch until I can get a nail under a little bit then work at it until its ripe for removal. I know that this is totally gross but I am sure some of you reading do worse. 9. Do you have any fears? No, nothing I can think of, no wait, I fear the backlash that could happen if some people I have not chosen to share my split life with found out, and not so much for me, but how this could impact on my kids. I don’t hide this from them by the way, although my little boy is still too young to understand. All 3 of my children know and so do a growing number of my friends and accepting family. The more people I meet and the more people are genuinely lovely and treat me just the same as always, the better I feel in myself and the better I cope with who I am. This hasn’t always been the case, it has contributed to my suffering with Stress, Anxiety and Depression. 10. Tea or coffee? Tough one, and you know what, I can’t answer that, I love coffee and I love tea, and it really does depend on my mood at the time as to which I would choose. Coffee must be with full fat milk though and Tea, most likely English Breakfast and with skimmed milk only. Never with sugar in either. I drink copious amounts of coffee, Tea tends to be more of a treat and in leaf form if possible. 11. Favourite book? Anything by Simon Kernick, he is my favourite writer, and I find his style of writing so compelling and to be such compulsive reading, that once I start a book I can’t put it down. 12. Favourite film? The Business, you can laugh if you like. It’s not the best acting, how could anything with Danny Dyer in it be, and not the best story, but I’m an 80’s girl and this just sums up a bit of the 80’s with brits on the run to Spain getting away with it. The Soundtrack is Epic and really does make for it being a great movie. 13. Favourite clothes shop? This will sound so lame, but it used to be New Look especially the shoe department, but now I have grown up a bit I love Next, they always have so much nice stuff in, and I love their shoes as well. And since you can order in and collect from store, I can try as many things as I like and just take the rest back if it’s wrong. 14. PC or Mac? I have Iphone, Ipad, Ipod and also a new 2nd Generation Apple Watch, but have never yet moved across from my windows laptop, and the truth be told, the reason is not because I prefer my laptop but because I can’t justify the cost of a mac to myself. 15. How tall are you? 5ft 9” so not tall as a guy, but quite tall as a girl, particularly so, as I do have a love for heels, so that does make me even taller. 16. Favourite TV shows? The BlackList, The Walking Dead, Nashville, Humans and The 100. 17. What is your favourite perfume? Very Irresistible by Givenchy, although I have just received a bottle of a Brittany Spears perfume called Radiance, and I think that this one may overtake to be my new favourite. 18. Have you broken any bones? Yes, just a bit, I smashed my elbow to bits when I was 7, and 6 month with it in traction to help it heal was not great, it was opened up to rebuild it, steel pinned back together and I am the proud owner of nearly a 6 inch scar that looks like it was sewn up by Dr Frankenstein lol. I’ve broken a toe, a couple of fingers, a few ribs and badly dislocated my shoulder which was so incredibly painful I can’t describe it. 19. What is your favourite day of the year? New Year’s Day, every year I tell myself that I am going to get fitter, eat healthier, and all the other usual things that we all tell ourselves we will stick to every year, this year I have gone different, what I will do and have started in this first 4 days is, be more open about who I am and hopefully just express myself as me when I want to, I think with so many more people I know, knowing should make it easier. 20. Last movie you watched? Bridget Jones Baby, I loved it, have waited so long for this as a follow up and despite some reviews slating it, I thought it was a really great feel good movie, atypical chick-flick and just the things to watch with loved ones or friends. 21. Do you have any tattoos and piercings? I have 5 tattoos and no piercings, I always wished I would be allowed to get my ears pierced when I was younger but I had parents that would never allow it, and I never did it myself, so that’s that really. I will no doubt get more tattoos as they are a bit like pringles, once you pop and all that lol. Maybe one day I will get my ears pierced who knows? 22. Any regrets? NO ! Absolutely not !! I know I have made mistakes in my life, but I don’t have any regrets. 23. Do you have any children? 3 children in total, 2 Girls and a Boy 24. What is your zodiac sign and what are you like? Scorpio, and I am very much as expected I love a good fight (Verbal not Physical), and can give 'intensity' a run for its money. Put simply, outwardly I am strong, commanding, intense, passionate and zealous. Driven, dedicated and loyal, I am also ambitious and security-loving. But, I am also quite highly strung and emotional, and very easily upset and offended. 25. Where is the most remote place I have been? To visit the British Antarctic Survey Team at their station in Grytviken, on the Island of South Georgia, I guess that this maybe somewhere that maybe no one who will read this has been or will ever be. Apart from the small team based there, its sole inhabitants are Elephant Seals, Lion Seals and a variety of Penguins. It’s also where Sir Ernest Shackleton the Explorer is buried, and there is a stream that runs down to the sea that you can drink ice cold glacial melt water from that is so clear and so fresh tasting, and could have been frozen for thousands of years.
